Framed size 18" x 12", with non reflective glass.. This is my first painting of these small passerine birds. It has also been called the cock o' the north and the mountain finch. The inspiration came from a commission request and I am delighted to include this pair in my Woodland Bird catalogue. SOLD
Similar in size and shape to the chaffinch, the male brambling has a black head in summer, and an orange breast with white belly. In flight it shows a long white rump. Gregarious in winter, it may form flocks of many thousands, often joining chaffinches. Read more.....RSPB Brambling
The painting is on Cold Press, extra heavy, off white Crescent art board and I aim to produce the finest detail in both the subject and its natural setting. The shade of the Daler mountboard is carefully selected depending on the painting, as is the toning of the frame itself.
