Little Owl Original Acrylic " Early Bird "

Framed size 21" x 9", with non reflective glass.  Any excuse to paint a Little Owl!  I think this painting is really atmospheric and I pondered for some time about whether this was a morning or evening scene.  I decided on early morning, so Early Bird was born and soon sold to an Australian Collector. 

The painting is on Cold Press, extra heavy, off white Crescent art board and I aim to produce the finest detail in both the subject and its natural setting.  The shade of the Daler mountboard is carefully selected depending on the painting, as is the toning of the frame itself.    

This small owl was introduced to the UK in the 19th century. It can be seen in the daylight, usually perching on a tree branch, telegraph pole or rock.  Read more.....RSPB Little Owl
