Framed size 12" x 18", with non reflective glass. Tucked away in reeds, this popular bird is looking out into the distance, unaware of being his fine detail being studied. The Kingfisher declined along linear waterways (its principal habitat) until the mid 1980s, since when it seems to have made a complete recovery. Kingfishers suffer severe mortality during harsh winters but their potential for rapid population growth is unusually high. Read more.....BTO Kingfisher
The painting is on Cold Press, extra heavy, off white Crescent art board and I aim to produce the finest detail in both the subject and its natural setting. The shade of the Daler mountboard is carefully selected depending on the painting, as is the toning of the frame itself.
