Framed size  18" x 12", with non reflective glass.  It often takes a lot of patience to see a Nuthatch, at least we found that at our last visit to Pensthorpe, Norfolk.  So very much worth the wait though!  See how his delightful blue colouring tones in with the lichen.  The name nuthatch has an interesting origin. and it arose because they have a habit of tucking food like nuts and seeds into tree bark and then "hacking" (thus "hatching") away at it with their pointy bill to extract the seed or nut. SOLD to a connection through Facebook.

The painting is on Cold Press, extra heavy, off white Crescent art board and I aim to produce the finest detail in both the subject and its natural setting.  The shade of the Daler mountboard is carefully selected depending on the painting, as is the toning of the frame itself.
